Karen received her master’s degree in clinical counseling psychology from Lesley University in 2016. She began her post-graduate training in a community mental health setting and has worked as a military and family life counselor providing in-person counseling to active-duty service members and their families in Europe, Asia and the United States and maintains a private practice. Karen is a Massachusetts LMHC, has her LPC in Alaska and is permitted to practice psychotherapy in Germany by the German Department of Public Health. Karen has experience helping clients manage anxiety, depression, stress, substance use disorders, relationship issues, life transitions and expat issues. She integrates cognitive-behavioral therapy and solution focused brief therapy and is working toward certification in the Gottman Method, which she uses in couples counseling. She believes that effective therapy embraces various approaches depending on a client’s individual style and that each person is a resilient and active participant in the shaping of their own lives.
