Janet Sherlund

Janet has over 40 years of experience in non-profit leadership, serving on Boards of health, education, and cultural arts institutions. Her service includes the Colgate University Board of Trustees, (her alma mater; BA in Fine Arts and Literature); Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ; The Paper Mill Playhouse, Millburn, NJ; The Susan G. Komen Foundation of NJ; The Juvenile Bipolar Research Foundation, and The Nantucket Cottage Hospital.  Janet served as President of the Board of Trustees of The Nantucket Historical Association for nine years and Chaired the Endowment Campaign which raised $17 million. She is proud to remain a Trustee Emerita of the NHA.  While Janet’s volunteer focus has been on Development and Fundraising, her personal interests are writing and photography and she looks forward to the publication of her first book, a memoir on identity and adoption, in May 2024. Janet and her husband, Rick, have two grown sons and a daughter-in-law and recently made Nantucket their year-round home.
